Updates at BlueOverture.com!!

Hello everyone!

We've just launched the new BlueOverture update - the artist search! Now when you log on to www.blueoverture.com , you will be able to search other portfolios by keyword, artist category, city and state. Note: if your profile is set to private, it will not show up in the search results.

As a result of this new addition, you can now further personalize your profile by entering your location, and some keywords to help people find you. (These keywords do not actually show up in your profile). A note to anyone previously categorized as a singer: this category has been deleted in favor of the more general musician category, but you can still add singer as a user-defined category, or a keyword (or both!).

I was listening to NPR yesterday, and heard about a special series they're doing called 'How Artists Make Money.' Articles and audio clips are all online. Check it out!

Hey BlueOverture users!
We are currently cooking up a cool artist search option for the website. This means more people will be able to search for and view your profile!
We'll keep you posted.

Music + Patronage

I came across a fantastic article in the Wall Street Journal about an organization called 'Meet the Composer.' This group matches up patrons and composers in order to foster the commission of musical works. (Towards the end of the article, there are some tips for finding patrons!).

Audio Upload Feature + Summer

So you might be wondering what's been going on with BlueOverture.com recently...

We've just changed our audio upload function so that you can upload files straight from your computer!  There is no longer any need to link through a third-party service such as imeem.com.  Just make sure that your audio files are MP3s.

If you have any questions about this new service, don't hesitate to leave a comment, or contact us here: http://www.blueoverture.com/contact.cfm

On another note: summer is here! (and for those of you in the Chicago area, summer has finally reached there, too).  This is a great time to develop a new skill to aid you in your artistic careers - circus classes, acting for the camera workshops, dance classes.  Look for universities offering summer courses (credit or non), dance studios offering special workshops and camps, or nearby theaters holding summer festivals and intensives.

And if you get a chance to go on vacation, bring your card... you never know who you'll meet!
